When you are considering prevention of pregnancy or considering becoming pregnant, it is important that you receive a complete evaluation, which includes family history, your goals and responsibilities as a sexually active person, any risk factors you have for pregnancy or the different forms of contraception available. Your family planning evaluation includes counseling regarding proper nutrition, exercise, tobacco use and cessation, alcohol abstinence, medication and illicit drug abstinence and prevention and treatment of STDs.
There are many types of contraceptives available to the public today. During your contraceptive evaluation, we will counsel you regarding the different types of contraception available as well as the risks and benefits of the different types of contraception. Then, when you have decided which form of contraception you desire, we will provide a prescription for that form. In a follow-up evaluation, we will discuss whether the contraceptive choice you made is working the way you want it to and if not, we will re-visit the options available so that you may choose a different type of contraception.
Your sexual health is an important factor in your life and affects your health throughout life. We will partner with you throughout your child-bearing ages to assist you in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, preventing unwanted pregnancy and STDs. We also look forward to partnering with you in the future to provide health promotion and care for any children you may have.
